We had a similar problem with the rain. It was loud when it came down it was like being inside a bass drum. There is a place on the Western Highway, outside Belize City, that sells sheet insulation that can be used to reduce the noise from the rain, if this proves problematic for you. Cannot remember the mileage marker off hand. The worst rain noise we have had since installing it was after Hurricane Dean when the rain bands came through. It was still like being inside a bass drum then, with Keith Moon of The Who, playing it.

fortunally we'll insulate our roof. This noisy roof is only on the rented little house - but thanks for your suggestion.
Hope you'll never have Keith Moon on your roof ;)
Ps. I made the bagels and unfortunally we ate them faster than I baked them. It's not that easy to eatable good bread here.
