In 55 days we'll move out of our lovely house.
Until then we have to pack thousands of boxes, clear the attic and the basement (unbelivable how much useless stuff we hoarded for years), give away all the plants, store the paintings... and lots more.
Most beautiful and sad at the same time is to rummage around in old letters and pictures.
In 55 Tagen ziehen wir aus unserem wunderbaren Haus aus.
Bis dahin müssen wir noch tausende Kisten packen, den Dachboden und Keller räumen (unglaublich, wieviel unnützes Zeug man jahrelang horten kann), Pflanzen verschenken, Bilder einmotten... und vieles mehr.
Am schönsten und traurigsten zugleich ist es, wenn man in alten Briefen und Bildern herum kramt.

I've been following your blog for a while. You a re about 18 months ahead of us, so I've been looking for tips.
Get a flatbed scanner and scan in the important documents, pictures, and letters that have importance for you. That's what we have done.
I also agree with one commentor: a chainsaw is definitely a "household item". I have two chains on the bedside table right now.

What are your plans in Belize? Where do you want to go???
We saved gigabites on harddiscs, backup-harddiscs and backups of the backups... with personal letters, documents, photos, cd's, dvd's etc ;)
If you also agree, that a chainsaw is a very important, neccesary householde item.... I have to go immediately and buy two... or three ;)
My wife Wilma (of another blog Southenglishtown.blogspot.com) and I will be moving to an isolated spot on the coast a mile north of Monkey River Village. It is referred to as Englishtown since that is where the managers of the farms used to live, and they were predominately from England. Also because our neighbor is from England.
We had to clear out our land from 60 years of overgrowth and the damage done by Hurricane Iris. That started in 2005 and is now nearing completion. We have a cabana as well as a generator shed for electricity and a watchman's cabana. So we have used up most of the life in 3 chainsaws. Perhaps it will not be so bad for you. You can purchase chainsaws in Belize in Belmopan, Spanish Lookout or Belize City, so it is not essential to bring one with you.
